Building Heritage Museum Toivo
Building Heritage Museum Toivo, administered by Satakunta Museum, is in close proximity to downtown Pori, in the V district. In addition to Toivo in the same grounds lie the Korsman House, refurbished especially for public and educational use, two other residential buildings completed before 1907, and an outbuilding.
Building Heritage Museum Toivo was named after Hedelmämehutehdas Toivo (“Fruit Juice Factory Hope”) that had its facilities in one of the rooms between the wars. In the museum rooms there is now an exhibition about the renovation of old buildings, where the different phases of refurbishment as well as materials used in renovation work are on show.
The middle part of the Toivo house was apparently built in 1810s. The house was expanded in 1850s from both ends with two rooms, but its present form, with T-windows, high ceilings and fashionable exterior lining was brought about by the renovations made by master baker K.B. Laine in 1903. In 1906 the building was perfected with a wing by merchant Viktor Wallin.
